The MEC for COGHSTA, Mr Bentley Vass, today (12 September 2024), presented the Department of COGHSTA Vote 9 for the 2024/2025 financial year, in the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature, in Kimberley.

The tabling of the Budget provides the Department with an opportunity to account for the work done in the previous financial year in relation to the annual targets, and to recommit the Department to improving the quality of lives of the communities of the Northern Cape.

MEC Vass highlighted key areas of the work of the Department as it relates to the development of integrated, sustainable human settlements. As well as facilitating and managing infrastructure development for effective service delivery, whilst supporting the local sphere of government and the traditional institutional development. The Budget allocation for the 2024/2025 financial year amounts to 1,631 billion rands

MEC Vass, at the end of the presentation, said, ‘’We will continue using the limited fiscal resources at our disposal, judiciously to maintain a balance between public expenditure and revenue, ensuring that the government does not spend beyond its means’’.

The Members of the Provincial Legislature generally welcomed the Budget and committed to working with the Department to advance the socio-economic needs of the residents of the Northern Cape.
