The Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) today hosted a Relationship by Objective (RBO) session aimed at strengthening the working relationship between Senior Management and organised labour.
The engagement brought together departmental senior managers, along with representatives from NEHAWU and the PSA, to foster open dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding. The session served as an important platform to build trust and enhance cooperation between the employer and employees.

Discussions focused on conflict management strategies, a SWOT analysis of current labour relations, and identifying practical ways to improve service delivery within the department.
Delivering opening remarks, the Head of Department, Mr Bafedile Lenkoe, emphasised the importance of maintaining open communication and mutual respect between management and labour structures.
“Strong relationships are built on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to serving our people. Through sessions like these, we are not only addressing challenges but also building a culture of partnership that drives excellence in service delivery,” said the HOD.
The RBO session marks a significant step in promoting a positive and productive working environment within COGHSTA. Through continued dialogue, shared understanding, and joint commitment, the Department reaffirms its dedication to nurturing a culture of mutual respect and partnership.
Together, Senior Management and organised labour remain committed to building a cohesive, motivated workforce that drives excellence in service delivery and contributes meaningfully to improving the lives of communities across the Northern Cape.
